I doubt King George V did this wrong. It must have been deliberate. A pic for the RVO or something. Previous Message
Torkel thank you for noticing ! I am somewhat amazed at the incorrect order of wear that members of the Royal Family adopt! A few weeks ago I went to Spinks in central London armed with my small collection of photos where I think orders / decorations are worn incorrectly . I waited a while and then a very charming gentleman came downstairs to assist me . I explained my interest ; orders and decorations . I showed him my photos and at one stage he remarked “ oh dear that’s all wrong “. I remember the Princess Royal at the Coronation wearing her breast stars in the completely wrong order . There is a painting of Gearge V wearing his Garter Collar with the sash of the RVO , perhaps Charles III is copying him? On another note it surprises me that George V would get it wrong as he was so pedantic about that sort of thing . It’s all very interesting. Previous Message
Thank you, Karen.
I notice the King again wears the Royal Victorian Order sash, thus raising it to a ‘second order’, instead of the established precedence where he should have worn the sash of the Thistle like his father used to.
Does anyone know the names of the two ladies accompanying the Queen? Previous Message
On what is the Queen's 77th birthday the State Opening of Parliament took place.
