I suspect The Emperor will join the ranks of Stranger Knights of the Garter, but wouldn’t it be even lovelier if The King bestowed the GCVO upon The Empress. The King could start to honor the female wives of monarchs in this way (Henrik had the GCB, GCMG, GCVO; Claus had the GCVO; Bernhard had the GCB, GCVO, GBE), and the GCVO has in the past been given to princesses in Morocco and Thailand.

Would also be a good time to debut the new Royal Family Order.

I wonder if the King will create any new Garters on Tuesday (St George's day). Perhaps the Japanese Emperor in anticipation of his state visit in June and perhaps the new King of Denmark.
