Robert, to give credit and blame where they are due, this time it was not the British press that was the problem. They were remarkably deferential and barely touched the story until the Mother's Day photo controversy. They have clearly mended their ways since the tragic death of the earlier Princess of Wales, and not a single UK outlet ran the paparazzi photo of Catherine that was shown widely elsewhere.
The culprits this time were US, Australian, and European morning and late night shows and celebrity "news" outlets (and their viewers/readers/listeners). The biggest problem wasn't "press" at all, but conspiracy theorists spreading their vile garbage on social media, in WhatsApp groups and in group chats and around the proverbial water cooler.
Even though I only occasionally visit these days, one of the reasons I will forever be grateful to you is for providing a "safe" forum all these years for those of us who would like to discuss royal news without descending into the gutter of rumor, innuendo, and now apparently insane conspiracy theorizing. Thank you!
I hope that the British press will give the Wales family some space now. The pressure on them is big enough without the press hunting them.
The Princess of Wales has revealed she is undergoing treatment for cancer.
In a video message released on Friday, Kate said that following successful abdominal surgery in January her condition was thought to be non-cancerous, but later tests found cancer had been present.
