James II was loyally served in exile my his illegitimate son, James, Duke of Berwick (whose mother, Arabella Churchill, was sister to the first Duke of Marlborough).
Berwick, in turn fathered with two wives (successively rather than bigamously), the second Duke of Berwick (also Duc of Liria and Xerica) and the first Duke of Fiztjames. The first founded the Spanish branch of Fitzjameses, who succeeded eventually as Dukes of Alba (Cayetana was, I think, a Stuart in the male line), and the second founded the French branch (which is now extinct in the male line).
Both the French and Spanish branches of the family remained loyal to the exiled Stuarts.
