Gregor... I think not. There are two " Georges" that are part of the vestments of the Order. The badge that hangs from the riband at the hip is known as a Lesser George , it's a badge , kind of " flat" in appearance. The other " George " hangs from the collar , it's known as a Great George, it looks like a little statue TBH. The King was wearing a great big diamond encrusted Lesser George , it wasn't the " statue looking " George. The fact that it's big doesn't make it a Great George. This is my understanding of the Garter Georges. Happy to be corrected .
Since The King is wearing it from the collar, not the riband, isn't it then by definition a Great George?

I believe it was the same as worn by GV and GVI at their coronations.
Some confusion about correct name for it.
