Am I way off track here ? The use of the definite article " the" is used before Prince/Princess Forename of UKGB&NI when said prince/princess is the child of the sovereign? eg.. Pss Margaret became The Princess Margaret in Dec 1936, not before? Pr. Louis of Wales does not use "the" until William succeeds?
Correct; it is custom that only children of the sovereign and wives of sons of the sovereign would use the definite article in conjunction with the princely title when and where it is used.
Thus, as you mentioned, ‘The Princess Margaret’ but not “The Prince Louis (of Wales)”.
