Much has been made of Queen Victoria (the so-called "Grandmama of Europe") as the royal matriarch of the continent. What I wanted confirmed were the specific number of sovereign descendants of each of her children --
Victoria, Princess Royal: one (Spain)
King Edward VII: two (UK, Norway)
Princess Alice: one (UK)
Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught: two (Sweden, Denmark)
Prince Leopold, Duke of Albany: one (Sweden)
Princess Beatrice: one (Spain)
Is all this correct? Did I miss any?
I find it interesting that six of the queen's nine children have descendants today who are reigning monarchs. The number would be seven, had not the thrones occupied by the descendants of Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh, been deposed.
