Your pictures allows for an interesting observation. Yesterday was the anniversary of the Queen´s coronation, and therefore a ´Collar day´. There are specific days where one can wear the collar of an order for formal events. Thus the royals wore collars with their orders, which they usually don't for Trooping the Colour.
In the UK, if one has received several orders, one can only wear one collar at a time, and none of the British orders allow the holder to wear collar and ribband with badge of the same order at the same time. One can combine the collar of one order with the ribband and badge of another order however, and it´s also allowed to wear stars and neck-badges of other orders. Thus you will see that:
The Prince of Wales wore the collar of the Order of the Garter (w the St George suspended from the collar), the Green sash and badge of the Order of the Thistle, the neck-badge of the Order of the Bath, the neck badge of the Order of Merit (I think, it´s hard to see in the pictures), and the stars of the Order of the Garter, Thistle and Bath.
The Duke of Cambridge wore the collar of the Order of the Garter (w the St George suspended from the collar), the Green sash and badge of the Order of the Thistle, and the stars of the two orders.
The Princess Royal wore the collar of the Order of the Garter (w the St George suspended from the collar), the Green sash and badge of the Order of the Thistle, the stars of the Orders of the Garter and Thistle, and the star of a third order I cannot identify (but I assume is the Royal Victorian Order.
The Earl of Wessex wore the collar of the Order of the Garter (w the St George suspended from the collar), the Blue, white and red ribband with badge of the Royal Victorian Order, and the stars of the Garter and Royal Victorian Order.
The Due of Kent wore the collar of the Order of the Garter (w the St George suspended from the collar), the blue and red ribband with badge of the Order of St Michael and St George, and the stars of the Order of the Garter, the Order of St Michael and St George, and the Royal Victorian Order.
Princess Alexandra, Duke of Kent, Princess Royal and Sir Timothy Laurence, Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Children, and the Earl and Countess of Wessex, Lady Louise and Viscount Severn. The people on the far left of balcony I think were the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, there was no closed ups of them.
