It was interesting how they decided the two heirs were joint Counsellors of State, instead of the Prince stepping in for his mother as a kind of regent. I suppose it had to be done in the formal manner with Letters patent on appointing Counsellors and not a brief regency.
On the event itself, I was disappointed by the low-key dress code. This was one of the annual openings of the parliament, which I thought was still a more formal event. Was the low-key dress-code always the plan?
I notice there were two ladies in the peeresses-row wearing tiaras, nobody informed them of the new dress-code
Alos I had hoped to see the Duke of Cambridge wearing his Garter collar for the first time other than the Garter service. Surprisingly he was in morning dress instead of uniform.
The Prince of Wales read the speech from his Father's Consort Throne and not the actual Throne. The Duke of Cambridge sat on his right and the Duchess of Cornwall on his left. The Crown as it has been in recent years, sat on a table to the Prince's right.
