I knew there had been wrestling at Bass school, so I decided to call the principal to see if we could set something up. We talked and decided to get around the no profit making venture in a metro building the school would handle concessions essentially making it a school function. We had a good run there, fair crowds and for the most part decent angles and matches. Once again the ugly head of the booker emerged. In retrospect I should have fired him months earlier. He consistantly booked himself in the main event, once in a twelve week program! People were leaving before the main. Wahoo would say there's one more match and they would tell her we saw that match last week, see you next Friday. On top of that he was taking the payoff money, paying most of the workers $10 to $15,00 and pocketing the rest. He refused to say who was getting what. Wahoo said tell him you need a list of the workers and what they are being paid, He refused and I fired him. The Wild boys wanted off a Friday to go work a shot in Alabama. He wouldn't put them back on the card. Steve Neely came to see me wanting to know why. I said this Friday L'll announce you are coming back next week. The booker was out of town but talked to my partner who told him of my conversation with Steve. That Friday before the show the booker and I met to go over some story lines. I told him the Wild Boys were coming back next Friday, He said he didn't know anything about that. I told him I knew he did. He said I'm the booker and what I say goes. I said I'm the owner and I trump any authority you might have. Reno Riggins was working for us at the time and when we took Christmas break he went and my partner went to the principle and basically ousted me. Riggins stole my Price Town chairs that were stored backstage at the schools auditorium. After the Christmas break he started running Bass. I haven't had a regular spot since. Over the years I have done shows in Gallatin, Lebanon, Hartsville, Dickson, Springfield and Columbia. We had several "name" wrestlers work for us through the years. Ricky Morton, Robert Gibson, tJunk Yard Dog, Jerry Lynn, New Jack, Tracy Smothers and Delo Brown. Plus, of course Tojo. It was Tojo who named the promotion Power Slam. In my last installment I'll try and recall some road stories from when I worked for Nick and beyond.
