I think it was about 20 years ago Japan did this with a mix of wrestlers vs. MMA guys. Sakuraba was a terrific MMA guy who did some wrestling, too.
Tito Ortiz would have been a great guy for WWE around that time, too. He was a bad, bad man with a lot of personality. He had a great rivalry with the Shamrocks.
My guess is this could be Fox trying to get WWE to cross promote Fox's MMA brand.
