The way it came off. They felt poised and ready to be a player, a real player. Wasn't perfect, wasn't going to be perfect, but felt real. Far as buys go, just a wild guess out my my butt, I'd say 40k-ish. I agree with you that 50 bucks was high, and it took nerve to price it that high, but it was also a 50 dollar show. I wasn't ripped off buying it. They are going to be on TV this fall, live weekly. It'll be real interesting to see how they handle PPV then, and how they price it. The WWE network is still 9.99, but they're going to be changing their prices fairly soon, added "tiers" and whatnot.
I think the real question for AEW is how many disgruntled WWE fans are there really, and how many are interested in something else. Most don't care that much, they'll watch WWE or nothing. The passionate ones are in the thousands, but maybe not in the 100 thousands, and certainly not in the millions. That's their challenge to see if they can get enough of a buzz to get those eyeballs. I don't think old guys' egos is gonna be a deal breaker for this group, it's medium aged guys running it.
