Author Jon Robinson; who recently wrote a book on the NXT developmental program, was chosen to tell the story and he does a terrific job. The book begins at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando as the legendary Undertaker was taking off his ring attire and leaving it in the ring. Over 34 chapters Mr. Robinson conducts interviews with WWE chairman Vince McMahon, WWE champion AJ Styles, Bobby Roode, Roman Reigns, the Miz, Seth Rollins, Braun Strowman, Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Bayley, Samoa Joe, Jinder Mahal & the Hardy Brothers among others. Also we go behind the scenes with creative team members like Brian “Road Dogg” James, Executive VP of Special Events John Saboor and others. It carries the reader through all of the 2017 PPV events (main roster, NXT and the Mae Young Classic) and the setup for WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
While I really enjoyed the book, I must warn traditional wrestling fans this book will anger them. The proverbial “kayfabe” wall is all but destroyed as you will learn how storylines are crafted and pitched to Mr. McMahon, how matches are formatted on live events and even the inner workings of creating what you see in the ring. The book is on sale now at retail locations, internet shops like Amazon, Barnes & Noble among others. Log onto www.ECWPress.com or www.WWE.com as well.
