Why is this Fri-Mon? Is there a reason to go away from the norm?

it is a dual. 2 tournaments.

most duals start thursday at 8 am

Monday is a holiday and therefore a majority (yes I realize not everyone) will have that day off thereby saving their PTO.

Utah is a Dual and by starting on Friday it avoids having guys HAVE to be off on Thursday which saves their PTO like Farhad said.

PTO always comes into play at World's because "A" and "AA" teams are there for a week minimum.

It’s a Dual yes but still should be done by Sunday night so we can enjoy our families on the Monday holiday

Due to scheduling, from what I know, there's no way they can start it Friday and finish it Sunday as it's a DUAL.

While the scenario you mentioned might work best for you it probably doesn't work best for the MAJORITY of the players, etc.

If they did it as you suggested the other "half" would be arguing "WHY AREN'T THEY FINISHING MONDAY!!! IT'S A HOLIDAY AND I WOULDN'T HAVE TO USE TIME OFF!!"

It's a no win situation for the conference directors etc.

Some/most teams don't have the luxury of paying for an extra night of lodging, or holiday ticket pricing for flying on Labor day. We pay to play this game because we love it, and we have to get the most from our shoestring budget. Obviously this something you don't know about Big Timer. Must be nice.

Nope. As I have said many times here on oldscout, I am in the media department now. My manager is Bernie. I just cover the conference, I don't have anything to do with schedules, awards, major lists, etc.

Could be we know ALL about low budget because we know and remember where we come from. We know how much work and sacrifice it takes to get from low budget to higher budget. And yes it does absolutely suck that these tournaments can’t end on a Saturday night or Sunday night depending on type of tournament. But everyone can’t be happy and my guess is that this isn’t gonna affect the Conference at all.
