30 minutes early

If you’re going to make a team forfeit for not being 30 minutes early and are so concerned about time, why are teams allowed to take grounders or play catch on the field when games are behind? There is no reason you can’t play catch/stretch/swing during the game before you. It shouldn’t take 20 minutes after a games finished to start a new one.

Why take grounders at all. The grounders these teams hit in pregame aren't even close to what they see in the game.

This generation of players rely on softball to pay their rent and groceries. They don’t care about the time schedules, they need to warm up to keep the envelopes coming.

I think the 30 minute rule is great.

I also think no more then ten minutes between games should be a rule. If your team is t ready it’s an out when you bat for each minute

I think stepping out of the box between pitches should give you another strike

I believe once a pitcher gets the ball he has five seconds to present the ball should be a rule

I believe not presenting the ball for two seconds in front of your body before you pitch should be an automatic ball.

I believe swearing at the top of your lungs over a call should get you kicked out of the game.

I believe if you are kicked out of a game.. you should be suspended for the following tourney your team
plays…. If it happens again you are kicked out of your world or the world series if you qualify.

I know… if you are relying of softball paying the cost of your life and family… you have about a 1 in 50,000 chance of being self sustaining.

I know… if you are juicing up to play softball… what you do on the field is not honestly earned

I believe conference tries to average 7 minutes between games.

We've done the 30 min rule thing in Cincinnati, as long as I've been around.

Just out of curiosity, is that not done everywhere? Do you just go by the posted time then, or is it 15 min or something to that effect?

30 minute rule has been the standard in conference for years.

In most cases, the time spent "warming up" on the fields is when the crew change of umpires is happening and they're bringing over the proper buckets of bats for the new teams on the field and getting the coin flip set up. This typically isn't adding any extra time...

I'm sure there are exceptions, but this is for most cases

I seem to recall there is already a rule that requires presenting the ball to do away with it being legal to quick pitch before the batter has time to get set

It really takes that long to change umpire crews and change out buckets? Umpires and bats should be ready to play 30 minutes before game time. The only time I can see a delay between games is coming from the losers bracket when a team has to change fields and have the bats brought. As a guy who watches the live stream, there is so much dead air while watching games. Check the bracket, find the field, only to see no one on it or guys warming up for a long time.

If the goal is 7 minutes then they are failing miserably. It takes teams 7 minutes to get to the dugout then grounders for 10-15. I would guess the average time for the major teams to start a game is 20-30 minutes. Take that out and all the bat routines and stepping out of the batters box would cut 3 hours out of a satruday.

The at bat routines are one thing, but stepping out after each pitch to do more of that is just too much. It's even happening at the lower levels and seniors now. It's funny that umpires don't say anything at all to these human rain delays. When I'm on the mound and know those guys are coming up to bat, I turn my back to them and have my fielders tell me when they're all set. Once that happens and they're ready to bat, I just kneel down and re-tie my shoe. They're not too happy about having to wait after they're set. A couple of umpires have threatened to call a ball for the delay, but haven't.
