When was the last time a couple players threw hands in the upper levels of softball and how was that situation handled?? Actually fighting not yelling and chest bumping. Thanks

Anyone that actually likes playing softball isn't gonna throw a bunch, a punch is an automatic 1 yr from the date of the incident. I still regret punching Billy in the GTL incident, as I really like Billy. Yes Seth did have me in a headlock, but never choked me. Seth was a big man.

The suspensions for grown men having words with each other is a joke, what does USssa expect when you have a bunch of grown men, with big egos, all in the same place competing against each other.

I guarantee the Cincy incident from last year, the MPT/Ressy video, and the MPT/smash it videos will have 10 times the views as the Championship games from them same tournaments. You want viewership, that's how ya get it.

JB is correct.

Softball has always had this.

Teams will always say something when their pitcher gets hit. 99% of players aren't trying to hit the pitcher.

Tempers are going to flare. The pitcher that got hit is rightfully going to be very mad.

Bench clearing videos will always get more views.

I would just add that when a player hits a pitcher whether the pitcher jumped in the hole or not you have to expect some chirping. You as a player will also be chirping when someone else hits your pitcher. So just let it go in one ear and out the other. Unfortunately there are a few that can't let it go and let the chirping get to them and then the benches clear and its kind of silly because nothing happens.

I played in a league in 1994 with aluminum bats and a restricted flight ball. I weighed maybe 160 pounds and was not a good hitter and did not hit the ball hard and a pitcher from an A team was filling in on the other team. I hit him square in the stomach with a line drive, he didn't even get a glove on it. Didn't mean to. Thought they were going to kill me. Anyone can accidently hit a pitcher at any time. When it happens accept the chirping and unkind things the other team is going to say to you and let it go. Expect retaliation say your peace but don't throw a punch.

And if you are on offense don't cross the white line onto the playing field and if you are on defense don't cross the line off of the playing field.

I miss the 90's and aluminum bats!!!

Now a question I have is why wasn't John's bat taken by the umpire when Reck got hit in the head? Anytime a player gets hit like that, the bat is supposed to be taken to be checked and that didn't happen. That is where Travis grabbed the bat and Flip started chirping with him as that bat needed to be tested and wasn't.

How come the umpire let that go as that has always been the case at all levels with re-testing the bat?

I have never heard of that rule in the conference. Probably because the bats are tested before the tournament and kept in buckets. Then the final 4 teams are retested again.

But they change many things without telling me so maybe the rule changed but I doubt it.

I played in the tourney's when they come to Illinois and I was hit by a MAJOR team and the umpire took the bat and it was retested and came back still above the, at the time 220 number, so it was allowed to stay in the bucket. Anytime a pitcher gets hit, the bat should 100% be taken and tested in front of witnesses on both teams. Just an opinion

Any time a pitcher is forced to leave the game, for liability purposes Utrip should be testing that bat again. 30 swings in a day with stadium balls can change compression big time.

However there should be absolutely zero penalty and the bat should be able to be replaced in the bucket.

A bat can be altered, have zero swings and pass compression at 245. Put 15-20 swings on it with hard balls (especially Stadiums) and it will drop below 240. If a bat drops below the 240, they should cut it open. Wasn't the goal of USSSA to the manufacturers, to produce a bat that will get to 240 and stay there for a while? An altered bat (shaved) can test there, but will drop quickly.

i argree with DW on the intent. But i never see anyone apologize for when they hit a pitcher. Its almost like if you apologize its like you're labled "soft". Big John never checked on the pitcher after he stopped running the bases. I have not read on here where anyone ask how the ressey pitcher was. I've seen a pitcher get hit and later that night they had to rush him to the ER. So he may get up and seem ok, but you never know.

Major player here that started taking his bat to the better tester in the stadium so pretty sure is correct about his statement you don’t believe keep you’re eye wide shut
