First off of everyone isn’t on the same page things will continue to spiral down the drain. Umpires don’t get paid enough to put up with any of this shit and it will continue as we have inexperienced umps . Egos need to be dropped so we can get some of the best back Doc,ken,Levi,Lee,Jason and the Minnesota crew and when I say egos I mean both sides.
I’m a firm believer that you don’t have to like everyone you work or play with but you all have to be working for the same goal for the betterment of your team/workplace and the powers that be are dropping the ball in the conference. You can’t throw each other under the bus and deflect like you do and expect things to run smoothly. Umpires should get $40.00 per game and help with travel expenses . To get a 1099 from Utrip for the pennies they get paid is a slap in the face as most of these guys are doing this because they love the game but it’s getting to the point where that love is dying . I’m grateful for all of them because without them we won’t be playing.

they are all some of the best along with slim and Dallas and a lot of this shit happening wouldn’t because they know how to control the game period.

It goes a lot deeper then just getting those umps back. Will that help maybe. But that isn't the solution to what is going on. First there needs to be rules for EVERYONE! Not pick a chose when it is a certain player who breaks them. There is a double standard and it needs to end or this will never end. Perception is an issue. Some people are perceived to be good guys when they are not. RULES ARE RULES NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE. Stick to the rules and this no sense will end. If you forfeit and the rule is you lose all your points then it doesn't matter who you are you lose your points. If you cross the line and go into someone's dugout your suspended. There shouldn't be grey areas. Lastly middle is part of the game. If your team is going to do it then you better believe it will be done right back and should be. Don't make an issue when teams start to do it back. That is just hilarious!

I’m not going to speak for the others mentioned by sitting at home ready to work if I’m needed. I stepped away when Doc was let go as a sign of my loyalty to him. I feel like I’m being penalized for my choice and I have expressed to multiple people within USSSA leadership.

Jason,

Let me start by saying you're one of the best and I feel competent in saying that as you've officiated a number of my games over the last 7 years.

That being said I am seeking clarity because you said you stepped away from the game when DOC was let go AND also that you feel like you're being penalized due to this. To me that seems conflicting.

I'm curious as to what you expected to happen if you "stepped away" in order to make a point.

Sometimes in doing so you have to deal with the consequences. It would seem there is too much pride on both sides and NOT just on the side of USSSA. They are a business and they will typically not let "feelings" get in the way of running it.

I wish there was a resolution to bring you all back but at the same time the games must go on. I assure you that the coaches and sponsors want proficient officiating back but USSSA is still a business and going to conduct themselves as one. Whether we agree with it or not.

Great point and let me clarify. I think there were a number of us that stepped away after the change of regime at the top. And i agree, if that costs us the chance to ever work another conference event then so be it. I am just expressing that I would love another opportunity to work the highest level of softball but if USSSA feels that my actions cost me that chance then I ok with that also. Dave Maury and I have left each other voicemails on a number of occasions with no resolution, if I am not needed or wanted just tell me. I have absolutely made mistakes during this time and said things I should have said and I have apologized. I do appreciate your post and don't disagree with any of it.

Jason,

You are definitely (along with Doc) one of the two or three best umpires the conference has ever seen. You taught me a lot without ever teaching me face to face. I learned a lot just by watching you (Columbus and Cincinnati).

I think the one thing that has always stood out for me when you umpired was and is your ability to defuse situations very quickly. I remember watching the 2015 winner’s bracket final between Resmondo and SIS, when Travis got drilled in the foot and there was a lot of chirping coming from the Resmondo dugout (believe it was Travis Resmondo) and you were able to to defuse it quickly before anything got out of control.

You are definitely missed in the conference man.
