Keeping bat manufacturers accountable

Talks about how proton AA team was swinging a different bat than every other proton player, even being discussed and expressed by other frustrated proton players. Rumors about how some Junos apparently testing 240 brand new. Etc etc

An eye opening experience for myself: I know a non conference ex factory player from a certain brand last year laughing about and showing off a “utrip” bat at league once, painted with stamps and all, that he said tested 200 brand new and was termed as an “owners bat” and that there were more. And this bat was painfully obvious. Then heard another time that a different ex factory player was given an “owners bat” without even being told what it was until after the fact to use in a derby

My question is how can these bats simply exist and what is being done to assure integrity and keep manufacturers honest and accountable? It sounds like they can almost make anything and put a stamp on whatever they want. And the compression tester only does so much. Who actually knows what’s legit, what’s made up, and what the extent is of what’s out there

The compression tester does exactly what you just said it does... tests compression. A bat that comes from the manufacturer that tests 200 will obviously then not pass compression at a tournament and not allowed to be used.

Conference teams are held to a different standard,bats, drops, Bumps, etc.

Do not put Protons garbage in the same thread as a Juno. Do not hate that the tech in Juno is flat out better then its comp.

I am not naive to think things don't happen like this or have not happened over the years but with everyone carrying a cell phone you would think posting proof would be pretty easy.

They were called "players models" back in my day and they tested just fine. Might only last a tournament or two but they passed compression. Did they have more pop right out of the plastic? Sure felt like it but maybe it was just in our heads.

I remember back in the “player model” days in the mid 2010’s that a friend of mine had purchased a bat from a “name on the bat” player following the Smoky. He preferred a 1oz EL, but the brand already had a figurehead for that. His model was marketed as balanced, but all of his game bats were ELs. His reasoning was that “the manufacturer made it like this, so it’s clean”. Not sure if that’s accurate, and I don’t think it is, but I assume items like that are more common than blatantly putting out “hot bats” these days.
