It seems like you kinda ran in the same circle/area as Rich Courtney/Bundy back in the day.
I am not a facebook guy so it’s hard to spread news...but if you know guys from Rich’s softball circle can you let them know.
Rich’s sister called me this afternoon and Rich passed away tuesday from a massive heart attack brought on by sepsis caused from his diabetes.

Tim I’m really sorry to hear of Bundys passing. He was a great guy as well as a tremendous hitter. Way too young to go.

No Facebook for me so I too am always late to hearing news. Sad news and way too young. I only played against Bundy in a handful of opens when i would play in the South Bay. I know he loved taking BP at SJSU cuz I would hear stories of him hitting it out on the big field. I’ll pass on the news
Bundy

He had one of the smoothest swings I ever saw. It looked like he had no bat speed at all but would hit the ball a mile.

Rich Courtney was one of the gentlest teammates I ever had.
As one of his immature teammates Rich put up with more then his share of kidding from many of us and I have to admit at times we took the jokes too far.
He would always take the ribbing with an easy smile.
Rich was an almanac of many things and not just softball....
He seemed to know almost everything about almost anything big or small which created a term with those that knew him..”. “That’s a bundy”. as in an obscure fact you can’t comprehend how someone knows it.
Rich held the record for most homeruns at the A world with 17? while playing for the Tribe in 1992....
That record was beat by Tommy Langenhorse a few years later when Andy P and Sunnyvale won the A world through the losers bracket
About five years ago I built a norcal Knucklehead senior team.l for a weekend with a bbq..Tommy was on the team and I invited Rich out to be our coach because his health kept him from being able to play...
At some point trying to store some chit I said...we had two A World HR record holders in our dugout... Tommy pointed out he had two more then Rich...
Rich in Bundyism fashion with a chesher cat smile on his face said...
Tommy... you were just luck I didn’t get those five extra games you played in because you averaged 1.32 HR per game and I averaged 1.83 HR per game...I would have had close to 24 HR in the games you played.
I might be off on the numbers because I don’t have a memory like Bundy but... someone pulled a phone out right there and Bundy was close to spot on on the HR per game percentage off the top of his head.
Rich enjoyed the last ten plus years with his girlfriend in Vellejo CA. He was a true gentle giant, one heck of a hitter.
