BLD Houston/League City Closed

Curious if anyone has more insight on this.

“In November, the city contacted Big League Dreams to let the business know it is breaching the agreement. According to a letter from city attorneys to Big League Dreams, the business had “woefully failed to maintain the sports park according to the standards required by the agreement."

Issues included electrical hazards and problems with the heating and cooling systems, restrooms, field conditions and fencing, among others, according to the letter.

Additionally, the agreement requires Big League Dreams to pay a fixed maintenance and operations fee to League City by Sept. 30 of each operating year. The fee for 2020 totaled $248,834 and remained unpaid as of November, according to the letter.“

they went bankrupt eventhough they had a gate fee

If they didn’t pay their bills is one thing, just come out and say that, but to blame BLD for maintenance and operating issues when that is what they pay the city for is a poor excuse.

I think it's stating exactly that they DIDN'T pay the city for it...

After the city and USSSA got their slice of the pie,there wasnt much left.

Why would BLD be required to pay the city for maintenance and operations when BLD is the one performing all of the maintenance and operations?

I do not know all the inner workings of BLD parks and they might change by state and site.... but...

Years ago BLD was talking with the city of Concord CA and I was a rep for the softball program...

BLD was trying to get the city to set aside 30 acres of what was, and is, an old armory (if I remember the size correctly) BLD was asking for free use for 30 years and they were willing to offer other perks such as maint. to city staff.

This same type thing was done in san jose at a complete called Twin Creeks...that developer got 30 years free and he paid for building... his son became the park/property director.

Sounds like what happened in AZ. Kicked BLD out and the city took it over.
