How crappy is it that the woman’s tournament has to play through the night. 1:30-2:45-4:00 AM game times.

And all the men’s games are in the stadium??

Wouldn't they need to put temp fences in the stadium to have women's games there?

I'm not sure that is doable. Putting those temp fences up then taking them down etc.

There are only 4 fields that are 325.

The red quad is the same as the stadium 325-365-385-365-325

Major division is played on the baseball fields. Womens I think uses a fence at 300 not 330

I’m sorry but that is not right. The women work just as hard and that get pushed aside cause of the fields. It’s not hard to figure out the logistics of the event so 1- the woman don’t play at 2:30 AM scheduled game time. 2- they get at least 1-2 games in the stadium.

Looks to me like the men's major bracket plays through the night saturday night without stopping at all.

For the women to play in the stadium they would have to play on an open field basically with the baseball field dimensions. That would drastically change the game in my opinion.

Yes 24 hour format is retarded and should have been advertised. Seems like some backyard coed event now. But they probably lost a lot of revenue in 2020 like most businesses. And how do you make that post just assuming you’re the only ones whose bracket goes all night? Incredible.

I agree with DW. Lights, umps 24-7 doesn’t seem like a money maker to me. But with being a guy that works nights I’ll be awake and gives me ball to watch. Don’t have a problem with it. 😁

The fact that any team, men or women, have to play in a 24 hour tournament because USSSA is pulling the ultimate greed move is beyond ridiculous. To me this shows exactly why USSSA is dying. Horrible directors at the national and local levels mixed with nothing but greed is a set up for disaster. USSSA is turning into a joke with every move they make. Horrible PR issues, the NCC is a joke and 6 million world tournaments have created a mess across the country. Get your sh*t together clowns

The teams don't play 24/7. The games are 24/7 and the teams knew that going in. The teams get large breaks between games until the losers bracket from what I can see.

If they had spread out the games complainers like you would have said "they are spreading out the games too much because they want more money". If they had cancelled the pool play games, people like you would have complained they are giving less games for the money. Lets be honest, you would complain about anything.

The problem if you want to call it that, was that no one could predict that 164 teams were going to enter a tournament that had 74 the year before. Why? Because it is a huge success, it does mean something, and people want to be a part of it.

Not one name has been listed in these alleged PR issues that have been posted. So there is no way to know if anonymous posters are telling the truth or full of shit.

The only way usssa would make more money would be if they expanded the amount of days which they didn't do. So your greed comment is incredibly false.

Remember when this started Stro was blasted on social media for greed, people said it would never take off, it was stupid etc. Now it is such a raving success that I (who has nothing to do with it) get emails asking why they cut off the number of teams because they wanted to get in it.

Try leaving a name next time. It will lend credibility to what looks like a post made by someone who was left out of the challenge cup. Don't worry, next year it is expanding to be even bigger!

The tournament grows from 74 teams in 2020 to 164 teams in 2021 during a pandemic and this poster says its "dying"...

do umpires get paid more to work 24-7? if not, thats not a valid argument.

I can see running the lights all night but Im sure its X amount of dollars per game to do so. They have probably factored that in.

It was just a few short years ago when people complained that worlds at space coast weren't playing games at night.

Now people complain about games at night.

You can't satisfy everyone.

Obviously the complainers are in the minority considering the tournament expanded from 74 teams in 2020 to 164 teams this year...

People always feel the need to complain about something. Have fun and play a tourney in nice weather in January. With limited fields they are doing everything they can to get the games in. Next year they should perhaps have different classes on different weekends. Problem solved

The schedule isn't that bad, it enabled my guys to get a whole extra day of work in and save a vacation day. You have to do pool play in an event like this as well so teams can figure out what they have. Unless most teams are like the Florida teams that are bringing full teams then i guess they wouldn't need the pool games to see what players they have playing where.

Ive never heard of 38 degrees for 2a-5a games being called nice weather haha.

DW everyone knows youre a back pocket USSSA guy so of course you would say things like "greed comment is false" or a silly ass comment like "people complain about night games."

A worthless tournament that forces 150 teams to play overnight is absolutely a money grab and probably a negotiating factor when it comes to the broken promises by USSSA to the county. Hey look were holding larger tournaments so give us more time to meet our agreement. SMFH

Also im almost certain when teams were questioning night games they werent talking about playing 1am, 3am or 5am "night games" so please spare us with your weak rebuttal.

This is a complete lack of leadership and preparation by the self proclaimed greatest sanction in the country. You wont convince me that the heads of USSSA dont know how to run a tournament or prepare for a tournament of 150 teams. Just a few years ago before they started self destructing there was 150-250 team world tournaments being ran, almost flawlessly.

As for expanding, correct me if im wrong, but they included alot more classes into this challenge cup then in the previous year so it wouldnt take a rocket scientist to figure out how that happened.

Also please correct me if im wrong but the tournament format was completely changed from the original idea to pull in more money, I mean teams! Dont believe me? Just check out how the format was supposed to be one team from each state, at each class then turned into send as many teams as you want. You want further shady mess? Look at how many players that arent even representing the state they live in. How does that happen if directors are doing their jobs?

And lastly lets not act like pool play is doing any good. It has literally been implemented so USSSA could justify ridiculously inflated tournament cost.

And I will never understand why anyone worries about usssa getting a county to pay their mortgage for them. Seems like a sweetheart deal for the players and the organization. Wish I could get the county to pay my mortgage.

Peace my man, it looks like you don't like the event and don't understand the roster rules or how it expanded.

Yes the incredible increase in teams did cause a problem, they just can't fix the problem until next year without telling teams they can't come.

Greed might come into play if they expanded the amount of days because the gate would increase or say anyone can get in, but they actually turned away teams and actually told some teams they couldn't use the roster they wanted. I am not aware of any new classifications being added but not sure about that.

When you get major players to fly to a tournament and see the excitement players have for playing for their state I don't think people think its a meaningless tournament. I guess you are saying every tournament is meaningless.

States like california have more than one team because california is the size of a small country. I have never heard the idea of only one team from one state but maybe you know more than me.

I have never heard usssa say they are the self proclaimed greatest association. Do you have a link to this quote? I have been to 6 conventions and never heard them talk about room nights. Only haters care about room nights.

There are 164 teams and would have been more but that is the maximum they could have and still get all the games in in the scheduled days.

But there were teams they had to turn away

Where I said when "you see major players flying in and the excitement from players" that was two separate things.

You are correct, major players don't get excited for anything but the major and maybe the season opener. But the fact they are getting on the plane without pay (I think) to play softball means that it means something to them to represent their state and play with fellow state players.

What I meant was the excitement on social media from lower level players representing their state.

You’re so used to being defensive on here you thought I was critiquing a decision to increase revenue. Of course they’re going to pack in as many as possible. It’s a business. In a vacuum: not a bad thing.
Although I will say that a freaking Facebook post does not qualify as adequately informing their customers that’s it’s a 24 hour format for all levels. I know quite a few people that had no idea.

it is hard not to be defensive when you know how much hard work goes into these events and know that I did not do any work for this event.

I am sure the teams were notified that it would be 24 hour format but I am not in the tournament and not running it so that is just a guess on my part but i believe they knew as one poster posted he knew ahead of time.

It doesn't seem like you're playing in the tournament, so why do you F-ing care about all of these concerns. And if you are playing, tell your team, thanks but no thanks, and let one of the thousands of other players trying to play in the tournament take your damn place. It is obvious, you are trying to build success for another program, by tearing down USSSA. History should show you, that doesn't work. From 74 to over 174 teams shows you are simply hating. What are you gonna do when its 300 plus over 2 weekends next year.

Money grab? All world sports in Norcal has been running all night events for a very long time and there’s a handful of nutters in the same area doing the same thing

And teams have no problem playing in them Jay and big daddy get hundreds of teams every year and they play all night long
