21 Major teams in 2021 if done right

Could there really be 21 major teams is the Conference was run with something close to the same roster rules as the challenge cup?

Most of those are AA or lower if you go by roster points/strength (on paper) but an excellent field of teams nonetheless.

DW's post says "AA teams OR LOWER". There would not be 21 teams in AA because a lot of them would qualify for, and thus play, a lower class. They're playing open for one tournament. Most of them do not have the sponsorship or capital independently to travel and play a conference schedule, let alone worry about the envelopes for players. A lot of those guys also don't have the time off work.

Just stop, man. We all know the point you're trying to make. We get it. But give it a rest. You are proving nothing by making all these posts and replies.

No.

1 or 2 of those teams are almost elite major teams like Resmondo and Dan Smith quality.

There may be one other AA team in there also but nowhere near 21. Maybe more like 3.

The other 16 play A or B.

What makes the challenge cup great is its the offseason, team chemistry can mean more than on paper talent for that one weekend so anyone can beat anyone in a given game.

But the big names will most likely be there at the end like usual.

I thought major is the highest level ? What is elite major ? That is absurd. Once one reaches the highest level they are major ....that is until they create an elite major list lol. There will always be more talented players at any level but once you reach the pinnacle of your sport there shouldn't be a class above.

So an AA team can add any major player if they are under the points since there is no Major Elite player list ?

No. Conference teams are classified by a committee. Teams are not classified by points.

Points are an offseason team guideline.

Because they are stepping up for the Challenge cup representing their state. Kudos to them.

I'm not even sure there is a B challenge cup division.

Remember C, D, and E challenge cup are supposed to be the very best of each states players at those levels. So most likely the E team is actually a D or C caliber team. The D team is C or B caliber team. The C team is most likely a B caliber team.

But the real question should be...

What would be required to have the top Division have 20 teams?

Oh....that’s right.... we aren’t supposed to have that as a goal because the few sponsors like Dan Smith in the game unless they see themselves almost guaranteed to make the final day of almost every event will.......RUN AWAY

Until the inner circle ever figure out those “type$” are the ones holding the game back softball will continue to swirl the drain.

I don’t believe softball has ever had anything close to 20 major teams.

Maybe 6 or 8 once but I am not for sure
