As a player, manager, and sponsor for 15 years. At the conference level all the buy in teams get the 240 bats to make the conference look good and it’s good for business pushing new technology. But players outside the conference, most don’t buy 2/3 bats a year. They are playing with what they had last year and if it didn’t pass they will buy a new bat. The easiest way to do it is have the threshold at 240. If you join the conference you have to have a new 240 sanction bat. If you are not part of the conference your thumbprint bat has to pass 240. |
Bottom line is this:
No way everyone who plays a conference event has to buy a new 240 bat to play. On the other side, no way they are going to let non conference teams swing there thumbprint and stay at the 220 mark. My feeling is they will let “non conference” teams swing there thumbprint bat, but it has to pass 240. To me this is the only way all this is going to work. This way the conference showcases the new equipment, while other less fortunate teams get to use there bats but have to play by the “240 standard.” To me this is the only way it’s going to work to get non conference teams to play in the events.
