Wow, how are all these players going to pay for thier bills with Dan Smith folding shop. I guess Bad Draw left way to much money on the table to buy thier team. Question is, how desparate are sponsors going to be to buy a ring or will they take the opportunity to stop with these over priced contracts?

Alright, I’ll bite.
It can be blamed partly on SOME sponsors for allowing the game to get to where it is with the ridiculous money some of these guys make. It is partly on the players for always “wanting more” or “holding out” to see which team offers the most money. I posted the 3 scenarios above under EARN IT. I believe in it and hope this is a start to it getting back there.

***I do not know what happened with DS, just know what everyone on here does.

It sucks for softball but could also be a blessing in disguise. This could easily bring 2-3 more Major teams out of the folding of DS.

Nobody said “oh poor them”. It is part of the Major game. Read my post. I said it sucks but could be a blessing in disguise. As in it may change from being part of the Major game. I’m sure it’s not the first, but I would be willing to bet for some of those guys it will be the last. JMO

If you really want to address the negative effects to the game because of LARGE player envelopes... It’s easy to bring everything into a more manageable level.

1) Reduce the AA chip limit to 7

2) Set a major roster chip limit at 11

You see... a few years ago some bean counter came up with this weird theory of supply and demand and the amazing thing is...

When supply of elite and watch list players is more limited... The demand for them goes down and SHAZAM!!!

You don’t have to pay as much for elite or watch list players..

Then again... some “fans” might fear....

losing the few sponsors (one or maybe two) in the game that only want to compete/SPEND if they know they will most likely win place or show every weekend..

I understand your views/fears they have will walk away from the game under such circumstances...

To those with that view I have one concept to share...

YOU JUST LOST DAN... THE ONLY ONE LEFT THAT “MIGHT” WALK IF HE IS NOT GUARANTEED SUNDAYS IS TRAVIS SO...

BUILD THE DAMN GAME THE RIGHT WAY... INCREASE PARITY!!!!!!

If Travis follows Dan (if this rumor is true of Dan leaving) and runs from a more fair level of competition if major rosters are limited...GOOD RIDDANCE!!!

The game should want and care MORE for Sponsors like the AA and A guys that are obviously spending more valuable money from their bottom line even thought the field is stacked against them almost every big tourney weekend (except for worlds).

F the wallets that will only show up if they can buy their way to being top three most every weekend.

I would believe he put something in the contracts that if the team was “terminated” for whatever reason then the contracts are also terminated with no penalty.

This is 100% not on a player EVER. If you're a player why would you NOT try and get every dime you could? For god's sake people are paying you to do something that most guys would do for free! I think it's comical that people try and run guys down for trying to get the most money and what not. Ya know what if someone wasn't willing to pay them, then it wouldn't be that way! No red blooded American is going to turn down income when they could be paid instead. Holy Sh*t. If a player says I want "X" amount of dollars to play, and no sponsor pays him that, then guess what, he either takes less or no money, plays for free, or just doesn't play. It's as simple as that. Think it's funny that you people get on here and think these guys should take less money for the "good of the game" or that they are bad people for trying to make the most money they can off their talents, and then also think they give a flying F what any of us or anyone else thinks about how they run their lives/business. As long as someone is willing to pay then THEY are the ones that are "ruining" the game in all of your eyes, not the players!

You can't then blame a sponsor for being tired of having to beg guys to play or make a decision. Players can be as greedy as they want but don't turn around and blame the guy footing the bill because he got tired of dealing with it. With no regulation on the money spent to build a team it's the wild west so don't be mad at the one that decides he's had enough.

Look at how many up and coming young players are making impacts. Brad Jones went from A to MVP of the smokey this season. Marshburn was conference MVP. I think there are lot of similar players out there if the major/AA teams would just look around. Idk details, but can put my bets on the fact Brad and Marshburn didnt get payed what others on DS did...

Hmmmm. I had a little insight, and i was told Marshburn and Bennett was the two causing the issues. The letter was sent to me that Dan sent out in his group.

My guess is with losing Andy’s gang they figured they would be lucky to be the third best team. SO THEY FOLDED

Marshburn and Bennet asked for more money because they got peanuts and hated Collins who tried to regulate everyone’s deals on the team. Then cry wolf when people got mad at him for being involved. (FACT)

The final straw that broke the camels back was Collins flipping out on Dan because he wouldn’t pick up Bryson Baker and told Dan the team wasn’t good enough. (FACT)

Hence the letter stating “Players questioning my ability to pick talent” (Fact)

Did JOJO and Marshburn asking for more money play a roll in this decision? Maybe, maybe not. But all fingers point at Andrew Collins who single handedly destroyed that team.

Is a big thank you/appreciation in order for a Sponsor like DS? He's enabled a lot players to enjoy that ride of major ball for a while. Also is the the last of DR we'll see.
