The bottom line, in my opinion, is this. Dan Smith has just been better at building the roster this year. Tyler Marshburn is an Easton guy. Resmondo had to have an advantage last offseason. They let him get away because they thought they were better on the roster. Bradley Jones, for those that weren’t close enough to him, was a huge risk. Dan Smith was on that train earlier than the other major teams and it paid off. Yes, it seems like they have more resources, but they have built with guys that are young with incredibly high ceilings. They may not always do it exactly the right way and we know that the conversations start a little earlier for them. Next year may be completely different and I do think it’s a lesson to some of those other teams out there, but this year DS was the gold standard, even though they will feel like it was all for nothing if they don’t win at the Major.|
