Why do you call the education worth '75,000-100K'? |
funny story, my now wife had knee surgery and needed help getting to and from class so i would drive her to class and instead of going off and doing something else i would go to class with her, without being enrolled, and would sit in the lectures and play on my computer which i'm sure i just looked like i was taking notes. did i get a free education for 3 classes at a big ten university? the difference between us was she was essentially just paying to be graded for the class right, we got the same content from the professors? kinda cheapens that cost idea doesn't it?
same thing for the athletes, the classes are going to happen with or with out them. the only the argument that they could be taking someone else seat is that in 2020 most of them are taking the class online anyways.
the real cost to the school for their scholarship is their living expense of food, housing and anything that normal student doesn't get like tutoring, not positive how medical works but you might get me there.
the financials of a scholarship from the school is generally a financial shell game as only 20-30 d1 schools athletic departments are self sufficient meaning the school helps fund the athletic department which is then the school paying itself.
the better way of looking at is the athlete can come sit in class for free and the school will pay for food and housing and do enough with classes to let you play. hardly as much of a ridiculous number.
