FWIW, I've always thought the age standard was off base determining eligibility for Futures and Team USA. Since all 2020 (men) named players besides one, play USSSA conference regular season (96% of players) and those 96% (usually) only play 1-2 USA Softball tournaments each year (A/Super). |
Why not this suggestion...
***Futures: <5 years playing experience in USSSA Conference
***Team USA: >5 years of playing experience in USSSA conference
Let's be honest, USA Softball is not choosing players that support their organization year round to represent the United States of America's best USA Softball talent (OC, Heartland, T's 13, Comatose...to name a few). They are choosing the best USSSA players that the country has to offer. Maybe USSSA should think about putting a National Team together? Oh wait...
It always seems that USA Softball likes having their cake and eating it too, unfairly to those teams that support/pay to play their events all year long?
