We used to play those events in addition to our USSSA NIT schedule every year out of Ohio. A couple of their bigger NIT's, States, and Worlds and we had a 5-6 tournament schedule of NSA along with our 10-12 USSSA NIT's. Was something different back then and had all of those ASA teams from Cleveland, Dayton, and mid Ohio coming into C-Bus to play. |
Now flash forward to 2019 and I can't find a NSA event with more than 10 teams in Ohio including states.
NSA got old and actually had a chance to recruit Cliff before he started GSL. He might have brought on those new ideas to them and maybe salvaged them to the point of relevance. Now they have virtually some small pockets cross the Great Lakes and Carolinas, but are pretty much extinct in the rest of the country.
Too bad, we used to play some good tournaments in Columbus when Mike and Bruce ran NSA full time at Berliner and Busch. I don't even think either of them are around the park anymore either.
Damn, the good ole days when 3 sanctions could all run and draw 16-20 teams just about every weekend around here. Now it is all baseball and girls softball and small 6-8 teamers of E teams in $3K worth of uniforms whining about how they can't compete with the D teams.
