Be willing to move to the next better team and leave your buddies behind, not everybody is looking for more.
Work your way up to teams that are playing where you want to play and be strategic with who you play for... do they have the relationships that you don't?
It is really easy to sit back and run your mouth about those doing it and blame factors that are not in your control for why you aren't there (like not being friends with the right people). It is much more difficult to be honest with yourself and your abilities.
If this is something you want, do you do things on the field that make you stand out? What separates you from the millions that play recreationally?
Would anyone notice you if they were casually watching?
Being a good teammate, consistent hitting and defense, playing the game 'the right way' are all good for when your foot is IN the door. But something has to separate you to get that foot in.
