How a cover feels to the touch is not performance indicative. If the cover is LOOSE and can be moved, and slip when the bat impacts it, that matters a ton. To be able to squeeze it some is not an issue at all, its made to be gripped. The old Class M Thunder Advanced had a multi layer cover. The cover felt softer and tricked the test but a harder core could be put in its place to offset and enable performance to be greater. Hence why the multilayer cover is outlawed in utrip now.
