In the ship...Runners on 1st and 2nd, no outs... the obvious thing would be to hit it backside right? You could have put a small building in right field between the outfielder and the line. Pop up, no runners advance. 1 down. Next guy tries to go for a jack also, only to hit a pillow and pop up also. 2 down. Next guy grounds out and no one scores. You're telling me that because they're paid to hit homeruns, they can't make the proper adjustment and help advance runners, if not score them? Sounds more like an ego thing than doing what's right for the team. More glory in homeruns than a backside double or single, I guess.
I think the ball exposed more than just power hitting or lack thereof, it exposed guys that weren't willing to change their approach and be team players.
