Re: Smokey"
Heres my take on what happened down at the Smoky. It exposed a ton of real bad hitters at the top level that have had the luxury of being saved by a super hard ball and the best bats for years. Those check swing or handle homeruns were eliminated and games quickly shifted from offensive to defensive. Sure, there were a few high scoring games but overall I think it showed that "UPPER" level isnt completely separated by talent as much as it is equipment. The ball issue also showed that most of these hitters cannot change their mentality or their swing to make adjustments mid game. I enjoyed watching less homeruns and the frustration around the ballpark over the pillow balls that we were using. The best quote I heard over the weekend was " Why can't we just swing at the normal balls?"
