Carucci was going to be drafted but he was so good at every position so they didn’t know where to play him. In the confusion over where to play him Eddie Gaedel was given Carucci’s opportunity and the rest is history. He had some big shoes to fill but I believe not only did he fill them but he was able to stand above the competition.
