I couldn’t care less where the pitcher was dropping to because the vast majority of times even if the pitcher filled that hole we hasn’t fielding my batter ball. But the middle man had a chance to field a ball over the rubber if he guessed right.
I played during the aluminum days so I can only assume it’s even harder to field the ball on the mount now. So the same would apply..Hit the ball as hard as you can away from the middle man… if the pitcher gets in the way… Sad but true…that’s part of the game…
Drill whatever side you don’t think the middle man is going to be on… It doesn’t matter where the pitcher ends up if you can hit a ball over 95 MPH
