I agree that hitting middle is 100% part of the game. Not hitting the pitcher, but trying to hit it by him. When I first started in C/D ball, I apologized or checked on the pitcher if I hit him on accident. It wasn't my intent, so I'd say "sorry pitch, you good", after stopping at first. Then when I moved higher up and started playing conference events more and more, everyone told me not to apologize, that it's part of the game. That's something I don't get. I try to hit it by a pitcher, not hit him, so I'm apologizing for it and not trying to leg out doubles. It's really simple. Nobody looks like a bad a$$ cause they hit a guy who pitched a ball underhand from 50 ft away, so why act like it? There's guys who rarely hit pitchers, and there's guys who do it pretty regularly, and those guys that do, are the most generally the guys who act like they're bad a$$ hitters. It's simple, drop the cocky attitude when you hit a pitcher, simply stop at first and check on him. You'd look more respectable by doing that, than when you're 7'11 and 500 lbs blowing up a guy from 50 ft and legging out a triple. Just my opinion.
