Re: Senior Worlds (40 an over)
Realistically, USSSA can begin producing good Senior events if they would take the time to hire someone familiar with the Senior players, sponsors, and more importantly the game itself. They have made the mistake of thinking just because they “are who they are” that teams will automatically show up to their events. What they have miserably failed to realize is that other Associations have been very successfully running Senior programs for 20 plus years BEFORE USSSA tried to come into that market. This isn’t an attack on anyone just the real facts….Senior players and teams want and expect a quality product like SSUSA and ISSA has been doing for many years. It starts with rules, umpires, equipment, organization, etc…. Until they understand that and hire someone to spearhead a senior program , they will not be viable. SSUSA in Vegas: over 600 teams. ISSA in Richmond: hundreds of teams. USSSA IN Vierra: I think 37 TOTAL TEAMS of which probably 30 don’t want to go back to a USSSA Senior event due to 3rd rate softballs, inconsistent umpires, incorrect strike zone mats, and much more. Hopefully, they figure it out.
