I'll give you a quick history lesson of what happened in our region a good 15 years ago.
We put together a team after seeing the first year of the Hooters that I think was played in Alabama. ASA in our backyard was coming up very slow but growing.
That next year we put together a roster of ex Usssa / NSA players who all played on B/C teams the prior decade. But none of us ever played ASA tourney ball, other than nothing city leagues in our small towns.
Of our 15 roster players only 2 or 3 were Usssa D ranked, the rest of us B or C. The ASA director had no choice but to sign off on our D roster cuz none of us ever played ASA.
Unfortunately for us it seemed like a lot of other teams at Nationals had already mastered the technique of sandbagging and we went 4 - 2 with a 17th place finish in Iowa.
I think Enrico manages the gosoftball account where ASA has rankings now. but back then it was way too easy to sandbag in ASA.
