I had asked above without anyone responding and this is just out of pure curiosity, but how are these teams even set up? Are they incorporated teams receiving sponsorship dollars as revenue and have formal business expenses or is it treated more like a personal funds jar?
I don't care about the legalities, just asking how most teams are ran for my own person knowledge.
On a side note, I would actually think $200K is low no matter what. I would think even the guys that aren't getting paid are at least having their flights and hotels covered. 18 guys x $350 roundtrip flight (which is a pretty low number) = $6,300 per tournament. 10 tournaments a year and thats $63K in flights alone. Even with pairing guys up in rooms, thats 9 hotel rooms x 2 nights (at minimum) x $150 a night= $2,700 per tournament. 10 tournaments a year and thats $27K. So not talking a single other expense (conference fee, meals, uniforms, balls, baggage fees, rental cars or any other type of local transportation, gear, etc.) you are at close to $100K and thats also not factoring in any player payments. Interesting to hear that $200K would be a budget for any conference team at all.
