Now that is a very interesting argument. First I have umpired for 53 years because I truly enjoy being an umpire. Money has never been a reason to ump. Secondly, I don’t handle personal injury lawsuits. I specialize in other areas and leave those cases to the experts. However, my point was answering how do you prove intent. I can assure you that if an umpire is seriously injured or worse dies, there will be litigation. I must ask, do you believe it is part of the game when your teammate and friend is the pitcher? If you say yes, you are absolutely lying. You would be the first person to charge the batter and assault him. No one has responded to my post regarding pitchers not hitting middle.
