I think you are trying to rationalize. If the pitcher is in the middle and you intentionally hit middle, as I said previously, you are intentionally going after the pitcher. There is 50 feet to the pitcher and the pitching rubber area is just a few feet in width. The major batter who is supposed to be able to hit anywhere in slow pitch has the whole rest of the field to hit the ball. No one can tell me that a major player has to intentionally hit the middle to get a hit. Also please remember that the pitcher has a job, maybe a wife or girl friend and kids. I dare say I have almost never seen a pitcher hit middle. That should tell you something. If they do hit middle they are the first to apologize to the other pitcher.
