I know I would have hit him “legally hard” as hard as possible.
YEARS ago at Disney I was playing a deep first base and Helmer hit a two hopper to the 2b in the first second hole.
This meant I had to sprint to first and since the ball was being throw from behind me I had to blindly find the bag while turning.
I ended up right on top of the bag and Helmer knocked me 10 feet down the line and I ended up on my azz.
I got up and looked at him and said “Sorry, that was all on me...I got in your way”.
I was coached that you as a runner have a more likely risk of injury trying to avoid the collision instead on going straight into it.
The runner owns the bag...if you get in the way...expect to pay the price.
