Maybe someone needs to ask a couple guys in that game....like Harvey or better yet Andy what coach Cheff or a good minor league coach would have taught his team to do when a little middle infielder tries to lay his leg in front of the bag to block it.. the answer...
The middle infielder is lucky he was able to stand up.
At Louis and Clarke Andy’s GREAT COACH CHEFF would have taught his players to try to SNAP THE LEG IN HALF...The get up and peacefully stand on the bag.
Andy knows any player that didn’t follow coach Cheff’s philosophy would have had the gloves on for about four fights in a row for a month.
My guess is the middle infielder that pushed the runner was never taught (heck this is softball, maybe he never played any serious baseball) what happens when you try to block the bag by throwing your leg down in front of it...and...that base runner gets shoved after being overly nice by not trying to hurt the little guy.
Yep...it would be interesting to hear what Andy or any of the teammates on the Florida team that had played organized ball had to say about a player getting in a hissy fit because someone came in “kinda” hard while he was blocking the bag... my guess is... they would say something like this...
“come on little guy...you should be thankful he did not SNAP YOUR LEG IN HALF.. what the hell were you thinking? and then getting up and shoving him in the BACK... Man!!!”
