I think they just were banged up (Alan Tanner) at a couple positions ( they had Mike Kosher in right field;-) and not totally prepared to play games where almost everyone could hit homeruns.
I am sure it’s shocking to come west without the humidity and play at high elevation with rock hard softballs where homerun hitters are not needed and every 175 athlete can hit the ball 350.
It was interesting that one team we played against snuck illegal balls into the game for a few innings..why in the hell does anyone need to upgrade a Rock 44/375 softball. I don’t remember the name of the team but Ray Cowart was catching for them.
They scored 7, 7 and then 6 runs in the first three innings and then when we figured out the illegally HOT balls stuff... they scored about three runs total in the next three innings.
It was very comical listening to them cry about the balls... they even went to the...“ we bought the balls at this event” crap until I said... let’s walk over and address this at the directors table because you guys deserve your money back.
