- Don't blame the directors, blame the new generation of young players who have come in. Most don't want to play up and have to travel. SoCal is probably leading the country in reclass requests every year. They also don't want to play above class teams ever. C even complains about playing B teams now.
- The small time outlaw sanctions have nothing to do with dwindling upperclass players. Most of the guys playing in those are the 0-2 teams for local USSSA D/E, not guys with conference talent
- Buddy ball exists in the sense that guys would also rather play with friends. Playing with guys they don't know in out of state tournaments just isn't something that appeals to this generation out here.
- There is also almost no big sponsor money here anymore. A few teams have some money, but not conference money. Many C teams are even self funded. Guys split entry fees and pay their own travel if they go anywhere.
If someone had conference money and picked up the best players without any bias, then an all SoCal team could absolutely compete in Conference B/A.
