July 2019 at the Smoky a bunch of players/manufacturers tested the pro-m ball the day before the Smoky and decided it was too hot to use at the Smoky so they used the Classic M.
Dudley "dumbed down" the ball some and it was retested and they decided to use it for 2019 USSSA Worlds AA down to E. It worked great. Got a lot of good feedback and the games were good.
The ProM is used in Conference for 2020. It was way too much ball in Phoenix and the first Cincinnati tournament the River City Classic.
Then it seemed hot but ok at the Cincy major and Maryland and some complained it wasn't even good enough in Columbus.
Then Atlanta, Virginia, and Conference Championships it was WAY TOO MUCH BALL. Pitchers had no chance.
My theory is there are different batches of ProM balls. The one used in worlds last year and Columbus this year. And the one used at Virginia and Georgia is a different ball.
Anyone have anything to add.
I feel the balls should be tested before worlds to get the correct batch.
