Re: why wouldn’t you allow lower level World Series qualifies to add as many players as they want
As someone who was a part of that Hague team, I can speak to whether we sat a season long starter. We sat a player picked up in the middle of season to replace a player who left us after the Smoky's (I will not name the player but he was fairly well known). We actually lost another player a month into the season. Both of these players were starters at different positions. The player we sat for the World Series had a .478 avg. & a .521 OBA. During our 3 national tournaments preceeding the World Series (ISA 5A, NSA AA, USSSA AA), he hit for a .434 avg & a .453 OBA. Simply put, our pickup wasn't getting it done. This player was a local player who had A-AA experience, but was a gamble. It didn't payoff & therefore we needed to make a move. So, this player although a member of the team, hadn't been there for the entire year. He only played 5 tournaments.
