I took the strongest stand against altered bats of anyone I know of starting with guys sleeving or extending length of aluminum, and then when composites came out and the shaving started..it would be impossible for you to find ANYONE that more openly railed against the “bitchstix queens”.
These things happened in my era... and I voiced my beliefs of there negativity louder then anyone else I know of.
Maybe, because some are still involved in the game and you might have their contact...ask California guys like Vic Cordova about my reputation on altered bats early in the composite era...if I remember correctly... Vic as an example had many teams that didn’t have a player on their roster that would have peed on me if I was on fire they hated me so much over my fight against altered bats.
Same goes for titanium bats... I was one of the loudest voices screaming to get them out of the game.. I helped lobby teams to boycot events they were allowed in..I had Jim Darby (easton bp) personally call me and set up a meeting on why I (to quote him) hatted his bat... I had Mike Cellura (big eason guy at the time)stand by the fence at a major tourney and yell at me for the last three innings while I played because of my stance against titanium...
Dale... you have to understand... Yu have no knowledge of the paths I have taken in softball.. and that shows by your ignorance on me and the games evolution to reward ped use and the fight against altered bats..
To close.. i have been spit upon, had punches thrown at be, bats thrown at me, balls thrown at me, had a group try to follow me to the bathroom to beat me up, had teams walk me every time at bat, numerous players stating they were going to beat me up and unending verbal threats all over my stances on these issues.
yes...it is obvious I didn’t win on some of the issues but...to say I didn’t try is just plain ignorant.
