The strike zone is an absolute joke, and the umpires aren't being set up for success. Put a mat back there, make it about 2 inches on either side of the plate, and make the hitters start swinging at borderline pitches. I would tend to bet the scores go down, and defense goes up. The umpires now only have to look if a pitcher is touching the rubber, the release point, and height. If it hits the mat, strike. If not, ball. Pretty simple fix.
