we were playing Sierra Power on a very dimly lite field.
they were boat racing us
they were swinging “special” ray demarini bats which allowed them to hit the ball abnormally hard..think shaved bat and you can see the picture.
one of their players had drilled middle
three times in a row
every time he came to the plate the on deck hitter would yell flip a lid or twist a cap
every time the hitter drilled it past our pitcher and the on deck guy would scream all kinda of that a boys
The forth time up we were being beaten so bad our only real experienced pitcher had gone to the bench
our third baseman volunteered to pitch
I was moved the the middle man and was playing right behind the pitcher
the middle hitter came up again
the on deck hitter was cheering for another rocket through the box FLIPPING HIS LID OR SPINNING HIS CAP
this time the ball didn’t miss the pitcher
it hit our pitcher right in the face
he went to the ground/to a knee
the ball hit him so directly it rolled back towards home plate
our pitcher grabbed his jaw and was asking me to find his teeth.
we crawled along the ground looking for his teeth until someone realized he had all his teeth..it is just his jaw was completely split in half
when we came to bat...down about 23 runs in the sixth inning I yelled more then ones.
ANYONE THAT DOESNT GO MIDDLE IS OFF THE TEAM.
So yes...at that point I had definitely lost it..and if I was tossed for it..it would have been deserved.
in hind sight...If the umpire could have addressed the situation (a player openly cheering earlier to drill a pitcher and a batter continuing to try) I most likely would not have acted so wrongly
