My family and my brothers families (15 of us total) here in Ohio have been social distancing since mid March. Myself, my wife, my one brother and his wife all work from home. All 6 of the kids are home from school and college. My son has worked 3 days a week at his job and my other brother has worked weekdays at his since the shut down.
My wife, myself, and my 3 kids have all been to grocery stores, home depot, pizza and food pickups at least one person a day has been out and about just about every day.
I am in no way saying this pandemic isn't serious. Just saying no one in our family luckily or anyone we know has gotten the coronavirus and the only people we have heard that got it were related to my brothers work. A worker and his wife in their 50's got it and recovered. And a couple in their 80's that retired from that work place many years ago that came back from a cruise in Asia sadly died from it.
And of course we believe 5 members of our family already had this after we got off a cruise on January 6th. 2 of the family members have asked their doctors to take the antibody test but the doctors haven't set it up or even called back.
I think the social distancing is working in Ohio and its time to open up in non hot spot cities and states. Just do so safely and fully expecting a bump in cases.
My small business now has almost zero income. My accountant let me know that I am eligible to apply for the PPP (Payroll Protection) and I applied last Friday, was accepted, and await the final signature today.
I struggle with the mask as I don't think unless its an N95 mask that it protects anything but I will wear it at stores to make the employees feel safer. And what about the eyes? No one talks about eye protection...
One thing doctors say is don't touch the mask, only touch the ear loops otherwise you have defeated the purpose of the mask. Yet on tv and out in the public almost every person you see touches the front of the mask continuously...
I've been to see my doctor and rehab workers for my achilles recovery and none of the doctors, nurses, receptionists, or rehab specialists wear a mask.
